Wednesday, July 07, 2004 Today’s Knitting News The continuing saga of…ponchos. Three catalogues, each radically different from each other: • Alloy Back to School ’04 – high school and college girls, • Anthropologie Fall 2004 – a very trendy boutique, and • By Mail Bloomingdale’s – the confident woman department store. Each has poncho (or two)! Alloy claims “It is fall’s top 5 things you just can’t live without.” Read Looks We Love at their website. Also notable on this list is a knit boucle’ shrug. Anthropologie has made a poncho/cape/capelet a prerequisite in each season’s offering. This season they call it a wrap. And Bloomies – that is just too mainstream! They go upscale with a lavender silk/mohair version. On my Ingeborg knitting – the only knitting I am pursuing (except for a black Berocco suede mobile phone cover I whipped out for Mark over the weekend): I am on my third repeat. She is flying off the needles at the moment. Things will probably slow down when I start the sleeves. And the lace…well the lace is tedious. posted by Nora | 4:56 PM
