Knit by Nora Compulsive ~ a strong, irresistible impulse to act (i.e., to knit) and Obsessive ~ to occupy the mind excessively (thus this blog) |
Wednesday, July 21, 2004 Today’s Knitting News Knitting articles are showing up in the strangest places. Here is an excerpt from Country Home, March 2004, page 136 to 144. “A tight-knit affair…some wine, some yarn, some treats, and some friends make for a whole new way to play” was written by Debra Landwehr. “Today, knitting is coming back in new ways for new reasons: namely stress relief and good old-fashioned girl time. And like Tony Bennett and customer service, all great comebacks deserve a celebration. So invite your friends for an after-work knitting bee and treat them to make-ahead finger foods, aromatherapy candles, and a few balls of the latest natural yarns—in luscious colors and textures as fuzzy and untamed as your favorite mohair sweater. It’s all about the tension, ladies: Keep the right amount in your knitting, but let yours melt away with friends.” There is a list of tips (knitting) for putting the party together. The menu (with the recipes) includes: Fresh Greens with Prosciutto-Wrapped Asparagus; Mini Smoked Trout Cubes, Garlic Shrimp and Pesto Toasts,Gorgonzola-Onion Tarts and Mocha Brownies. Oh yes, for yarn, a Pinot Grigio Spritzer is recommended. The article includes a dozen photos, all color coordinated with the yarn, lacey mohair in an aquamarine blue and lime. Even the titles are in this color theme. I must say the food looks yummy even though the knitting is rudimentary. I should have a new camera by next Monday. I am at the shaping the neck of Ingeborg, finished a shawl (needs fringed), have the mobile phone case in Berroco Suede to show and the H.P. scarf. posted by Nora | 12:42 PM
