![]() Thursday, August 25, 2005 ![]() These are new fibers to spin (or I should say spun as the fiber on the right is almost yarn). On the left: 4 ounces of Merino Wool Combed Top “Lavender” from Ebay seller: Blue Goose Glen (I would buy from them again). It is absolutely lovely and since it is like a cloud, 4 oz. is quite a bit of fiber. I have not yet spun this lofty wool. On the right: 8 ounces of a beautiful gray-blue baby alpaca from my LSY, Yarns Unlimited (and a local farm). I have almost spun all of this dreamy fiber. I am seriously considering plying it with a thread in either silver or gray to give it stability but not more volume. This alpaca is destined to be a shawl due to the drape of the yarn. I did not have the heart to spin or ply it with another fiber that might take away from the soft cashmere feeling. ![]() It is true love with both of these fibers…meanwhile on the knitting front…I added a hat to my winter assemble; now all I need is a frost or flurry (seriously, not until December, please). I still plan to post (asap) a photo of me wearing my tank: Milano from DaleGarn 123 and also my final SpiderWeb Capelet (Stitch n Bitch Nation). I finally decided how to do the closure on the capelet. I went with the 10” crochet strand, but instead of the pom-poms, I used three glass beads of different shapes. They really gave it a dressy look, which is what I wanted, rather than a casual or fun look.
