Today’s Fiber News

This is my first naturally dyed, homespun yarn. As I mentioned, the smell was horrible when I set the dye but at least the yarn has no residual odor. The berries are from a Poke Berry bush and the color in the photo is true – a fuchsia burgundy. In some lights, I like it, and in others, I don’t. I am anxious to see if it is color and light fast – I used the mordant of cream of tartar. I will probably do a simple scarf or hat...but not for awhile. Or I might give it away. I really think I want to try acid dyes (Cushers or similar) next. Although I have walnut shells, I know the smell will just invade the premises.

I am knitting three things right now: a pinwheel baby blanket, a Colinette shawl and a Koigu KPPPM scarf (like the photo from last week, but a different color). I plan to pick up Ingeborg again this week. I will be back later for photo updates.
